Film Related Events CINEMATHEQUE

CINEMATHEQUE is the annual event of the Xaverian Film Academy, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata. It is a national level students' film competition. It has been graced by directors like Mahesh Bhatt, Anurag Bose, Gautam Ghose, Shoojit Sirkar and others. Last year's Cinematheque saw the presence of senior and award winning film industry directors, cinematographers and editors like Suman Mukhopadhyay, Aniruddha Roy Choudhury, Arghyakamal Mitra, Indranil Roy Choudhury and Indranil Mukherjee.

This year's Cinematheque will be held on 28th February, 10 am onwards at Fr. Depelchin Auditorium, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. 

Events in a nutshell:

Quiz - teams should consist of no less and no more than 3 members.

One Shot - Theme: 'Mirage'. Film should have only one shot without any cuts in it, not more than 2 minutes (inclusive of titles and credits).

Documentary - any topic/subject, not exceeding 20 minutes of duration, includes credits.

Short Fiction - any story (Original/Adaptation), not exceeding 15 minutes of duration, includes credits.

Edit Junk - contestants will create a 60 seconds trailer for the film Kahaani (Sujoy Ghosh, 2012)

Photography – Since this year marks the passing away of the legendary director Mrinal Sen, the Xaverian Film Academy pays tribute to him through the photography round. So we have chosen to keep the theme for this round as 'Ek Din Pratidin (‘One day, every day’), named after one of the most acclaimed film by the maestro. The academy will thus get an insight into what the present generation perceives of the concept of ‘Ek Din Pratidin’. Only one entry per participant will be entertained.

Ad Film – The theme for this category will be announced two weeks prior to the event.  Length: Exactly 45 seconds. No credits should be included.

Film Review – Contestants will write a critical review on any one of the following films within 1000 words in English – Interview (Mrinal Sen, 1970), Roma (Alfonso Cuaron, 2018), Andhadhun (Sriram Raghavan, 2018)

Film Poster - Design an alternative poster for Khandhar (Mrinal Sen, 1984) 

Short Script - Write a short script for a film of maximum 2 minutes on the theme 'Genesis'.

(Page-a-minute format must be followed, should not exceed 3 pages in length and must be in English. The script must be in font 'Courier New' and size 12, with no more or no less than single line spacing.)
