ODIA CINEMA GEETA 1936-1969
Songs have been an integral part of Indian Cinema from the beginning. Odia cinema is no exception. Like film songs of all other languages, Odia film songs have also been very popular. Besides the singers and composing, lyrics have played an important role in making Odia film songs so popular among the masses. It has attracted best of literary talents to pen the lyrics.
But unfortunately not much research has been done on the lyrics of Odia films. In fact the lyrics were not put together in a book form which somebody can access at one place.
For the first time, Surya Deo has compiled Odia film songs from 1936 to 1969 in a book form.
This book is a treasure house for people who love to read the lyrics of songs, some of which are sheer literary gems. It will also help persons interested in serious research in Odia Films.
Published by Bhubaneswar based Srujan it is being released on 23 May 2015.
This is Surya's third book on Odia Cinema after 'Odia Cinema: Rupa O Rupantara' and 'Juramana Jharageeti;, an analysis of Odia film songs of half a century.
