JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

In India, WU in partnership with other leading actors working on WASH, is launching a multi-year national level campaign tapping into the enormous passion for cricket to raise awareness and change attitudes and behaviours around sanitation. This large-scale, multi-channel project will engage target audiences through classical mass media, digital and social media communication, events and on the ground activities, direct consumer communication and interpersonal communication.

WU is seeking a highly motivated individual with exceptional management and decision-making skills to manage the development and execution of this campaign. The incumbent shall need to have strong experience of working with creative agencies, coordinating large-scale integrated campaigns and managing multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced work environment.

Reporting to WU’s Managing Director, the job offers an exciting opportunity for a senior communications professional with experience managing large-scale campaigns to:

(1) Make a substantial contribution to achieving sanitation and hygiene for all people in India
(2) Work with a dynamic, passionate international team, from a wide range of disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

(1) Managing a team of staff with varying communication backgrounds, providing the team with direction, motivation and feedback;
(2) Defining the overall strategy and writing the creative brief for the campaign in collaboration with the Creative Director of WU and partners;
(3) Managing relationships with creative agencies, including briefing, overseeing and guiding the creative agencies;
(4) Leading the day-to-day management of the campaign, executing decisions based on defined strategies and ensuring its successful delivery;
(5) Developing, monitoring and accurately reporting on the campaign project plan and budget;
(6) Coordinating the communication and activities of multiple partners from various backgrounds.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Experience:

(1) Five to seven years of work experience, with a minimum of three years working in a senior-level position managing multi-channel campaigns, including classical mass media, digital and social media communication, events and live formats, and direct consumer and interpersonal communication;
(2) Experience screening, briefing and managing creative agencies in India;
(3) Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and working in a multi-cultural environment;
(4) Experience managing large-scale, complex project plans and budgets;
(5) Experience with social impact programs or behaviour change campaigns;
(6) Background in Business, Marketing or Communications.

Personal Qualities and Skills:

(1) Effective and positive communicator who is able to build strong relationships and teams;
(2) Decision-maker with the determination to ensure project goals are met under tight deadlines;
(3) Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast paced and results driven environment;
(4) Organized and detail-oriented project manager with excellent spread sheet capabilities;
(5) Strong team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams to deliver on goals;
(6) Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and adopt a proactive, positive approach;
(7) Excellent communication and networking skills;
(8) Willingness and ability to travel.

COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT:

The WU project in India commences in August 2015 and shall be operational till the end of 2017. The successful candidate shall be offered a contract for the above period, subject to satisfactory completion of an initial probation.
